What We Believe
Statement Of Beliefs
We Believe the Scriptures are given by God and is our ultimate guide for what we believe and how we live. (Matt. 5:18; John 10:35, 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:20–21)
We Believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, and willingly sacrificed Himself for our sins. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us, offering forgiveness and new life to all who believe. He physically rose from the dead three days later and ascended into heaven, where He now continually intercedes for us at God’s right hand. (Matt. 1:18–25; John 1:1–18, 3:16; Rom. 5:8, 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:1–28; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:10–14; Eph. 1:7; Phil. 2:6–11; Col. 1:15–23; Heb. 7:25, 9:13–15, 10:19; 1 Pet. 2:21–25; 1 John 2:1–2)
We Believe everyone who places their trust in Jesus Christ receives the Holy Spirit, who lives within us forever. The Spirit transforms us, guides us, and empowers us to live and serve effectively. We affirm the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit through spiritual gifts, signs, and wonders that reveal God’s Kingdom and strengthen the Church. (Matt. 3:11; John 1:12–13, 3:1–15; Acts 4:29–30; Rom. 8:9, 12:3–8; 1 Cor. 12:12–13; 2 Cor. 1:21–22; Gal. 3:1–5; Eph. 1:13–14, 5:18)
We Believe there is one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—distinct yet equal in divinity, power, and glory. God created and continues to sustain and direct the universe, guiding everything toward fulfillment in Jesus Christ for His glory. (Ps. 104, 139; Matt. 10:29–31, 28:19; Acts 17:24–28; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 1:9–12, 4:4–6; Col. 1:16–17; Heb. 1:1–3; Rev. 1:4–6)
We Believe humans were created in God’s image but became separated from Him through rebellion. This brought sin, distortion of God’s image, and spiritual death to humanity. The solution is salvation through faith in Jesus. Salvation is purely by grace—no rituals can achieve it. Anyone who believes in Christ receives immediate forgiveness, a new spiritual life, and eternal acceptance by God. (John 1:12–13, 6:37–44, 10:25–30; Acts 16:30–31; Rom. 3–4, 8:1–17, 31–39, 10:8–10; Eph. 2:8–10; Phil. 2:12–13; Titus 3:3–7; 1 John 1:7, 9)
We Believe the Church is central to God’s plan for redeeming the world. Our mission includes proclaiming the Gospel, caring deeply for those in need, and reflecting Christ’s compassion and love in practical ways. (Isa. 58:6–12, 61:1; Matt. 5–7, 28:18–20; Matt. 16:17–19; Luke 4:18, 21:1–4; Acts 2:17–18, 42; Gal. 2:10; Eph. 3:14–21, 4:11–16; 1 Tim. 2:11–15; 1 Tim. 6:8; Heb. 10:23–25; 1 Pet. 2:4–5, 9–10)
We Believe spiritual growth and transformation is an ongoing, daily process. We strive to live each day empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit, avoiding extremes or fanaticism and steadily growing in spiritual maturity. (Heb. 6:1; Gal. 5:22; Phil. 4:5)
Apostles Creed (pre 300 AD)
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
* Catholic from the Greek kata-holos meaning “according to the whole” or more colloquially, “universal or general.”.
